Recently, ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held in Delhi held a meeting. The meeting was chaired by Kuwait. The meeting was held under the leadership of Kuwait, the current chairmanship of GCC and discussed the deepening of multilateral cooperation with India, discussion on regional development and increasing strategic dialogue.
Emphasis on India -GCC cooperation
At the meeting, the ambassadors emphasized on promoting India -GCC partnership in various fields, sharing shared Gulf approaches and supporting the progress of joint Gulf works. This meeting was another important step towards strengthening GCC -India relations.
Strong condemnation of Iran’s attack on Qatar
The meeting also discussed the recent attack on Qatar by Iran, which the GCC ambassadors described a gross violation of international law and good neighboring principles. He reiterated the strong support of the GCC countries towards Qatar’s sovereignty, security and stability.
Hormuz concern over the safety of the water
Ambassadors also expressed concern about the safety and stability of the Hormuz Strait. He said that this sea route is extremely important for international shipping, global trade and energy supply and should not be misused in regional or international disputes.
Second GCC meeting in India
The meeting was the second formal meeting of GCC ambassadors in India under the chairmanship of Kuwait. This effort is part of the ongoing dialogue to serve the collective interests of GCC, policy coordination and to encourage intimate relations with India.
