Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-Hey passed away
South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-Hey died on Tuesday. He died of a heart attack. This information was given by the South Korean tech veteran. Han Jong-Hey was 63 years old. A Samsung spokesperson said that Han died when he was admitted to the hospital for treatment for cardiac arrest. The company has not yet announced the name of his successor.
Who was Han Jong-Hey?
Han Jong-Hee was the three-decade-old experienced experienced of Samsung, who started his career with a display division. He was appointed Samsung’s co-CEO just three years ago. Han is credited with making Samsung Electronics head of the TV industry, where he overtook Japanese rivals such as Sony Group Corp. In addition, Han led Samsung’s consumer electronics and mobile device division, which competes with Apple’s smartphones. Recently, Han had taken several steps towards integrating AI in Samsung’s Galaxy devices. Under his leadership, Samsung began using AI chips in home appliances such as its fridge, washing machine and vacuum cleaner.
Han died at a time when the company is now SK Hynix Inc. Along with AI to compete in the field of memory and also settled the sluggish demand of consumer electronics. Last week, Han said at Samsung’s annual shareholder meeting that 2025 could be a difficult year, but the company is planning merger and acquisition for development.
Han Jong-Hey, Samsung’s co-CEO was leading the company in association with June Young-Hune. June Young-Hune has taken over the responsibility of Samsung’s semiconductor trade, while Han Jong-that was overseeing all other areas.
