Doctors announced strike in Sri Lanka
Colombo: fellow doctors announced a 24 -hour strike on Wednesday after a rape of a woman doctor in Anuradhapura, North Central Province, Sri Lanka. The incident took place with the female doctor when she was going to her residence on Monday after finishing the duty of night shift. After this incident, there is a lot of anger among doctors and questions are also being raised on security.
Police arrested accused
Police said that the person chasing the doctor stabbed him and allegedly raped her. Union ‘Government Medical Officers Association’ (GMOA), a doctors, announced a 24 -hour strike demanding the arrest of the accused. At present, the police arrested the suspected accused on Wednesday.
Strike will continue
The accused has been identified as a military fugitive who was released from jail three days ago in a drug -related crime. However, even after the arrest, the union of doctors said that they would continue the strike. (Language)
