Islamabad: The lives of the girls of Afghanistan have almost become hell due to the Taliban decree. They are neither allowed to get higher education nor do jobs. These misdeeds of Taliban have taken away the rights of the girls of Afghanistan to live independent. In such a situation, UNICEF is extremely concerned. Hence UNICEF on Saturday urged the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan to immediately lift the ban on girls’ education.

More than 22 lakh girls deprived of education

UNICEF has taken this initiative so that the future of millions of girls who have been deprived of the right to education since the Taliban returns to power in 2021. UNICEF made this appeal at a time when the new academic year has begun in Afghanistan. The agency said that due to this ban, 4,00,000 more girls have been deprived of the right to education and with this the total number of girls has increased to 22 lakhs which could not study after the sixth grade.

The world’s first country to ban girls’ education

Afghanistan is the only country in the world where girls are banned on secondary and higher education. According to the Taliban, this ban is appropriate as this education system is not in line with the interpretation of Sharia or Islamic law. “All girls have been violated in Afghanistan for more than three years,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a statement. “All girls should now be allowed to return to school,” he said.

If the ban is not removed, there will be 40 lakh girls from education

If these competent and talented women are deprived of education, then its results will remain for many generations. ”He said that this ban will harm the future of millions of Afghan girls. He said that if the ban continues till 2030, more than 40 lakh girls would be deprived of their right to education ahead of primary school. “He said that its results would be” destructive “.

Illiteracy can become the cause of death of thousands of infants

Russell warned that women and girls would not get medical care due to the decrease in the number of female physicians and midwives, resulting in about 1,600 additional mothers and more than 3,500 additional infants to die. He said, “These are not just numbers, these figures represent lost lives and shattered families.” (AP)
