Washington: On the one hand, where there are situations like war between India and Pakistan, on the other hand, the US has taken a big step about its army. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth has carried forward the trump administration’s move to cut employees in US departments. Hegseth has directed the army to reduce its top leadership posts by 20 per cent.

‘Cuts will increase efficiency’

The Trump administration believes that the cuts will increase efficiency, on the other hand critics are worried that this may cause the army to be politicized. Hegseth has also directed the National Guard to reduce his top leadership posts by 20 per cent. The army has also been asked to cut the posts of General and Flag Officer in its force by an additional 10 per cent.

Officers have been dismissed earlier also

The deduction will be in addition to more than 6 top general officials, including President Donald Trump or Hegseth’s chief General CQ Brown Junior, the Chief of Joint Chief of Staff sacked since January. At that time, Hegseth had said that this cut “shows the President’s wish that there are capable people around him who want to adopt our view on the issue of national security.”

‘Attempt to politicize army’

Announcing the deduction, in a notice, Hegseth said that he would abolish unnecessary positions to make the leadership streamlined. He said that its purpose is to ‘free the army from the levels of unnecessary bureaucracy’. Seth Moulton, a member of the US House of Representatives, said that he sees Hegaseth’s decision as an attempt to politicize the army. (AP)
