Beirut: The leader of Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has said that its main supply line has been cut off after the fall of Bashar al-Assad from power in Syria, but he may find other ways to bring weapons. Hezbollah was Assad’s main supporter and has sent thousands of fighters to Syria over the past decade. For decades, Hezbollah has depended on Syria as a conduit for weapons from Iran.
What did the Hezbollah leader say?
In his first public comments since the fall of Bashar al-Assad, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said the group’s military supply line through Syria had been cut. The Hezbollah leader said the new authority there could restore the route, “otherwise we can find other ways.”

He claimed that we have evidence, and this evidence leaves no room for doubt.
Assad’s fall is a blow to Iran
Iran was considered a major ally of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad government. Iran used to help Assad by providing weapons, military equipment and training to the army to fight Syria. The fall of the Assad government in Syria is no less than a major setback for Iran. (AP)
