The Bangladesh High Court on Wednesday granted bail to spiritual leader Chinmay Krishna Das in a sedition case. The order was passed by a bench of Justice Mohammad Ataur Rahman and Justice Mohammad Ali Raza.
This information has been revealed by quoting Bangladesh newspaper The Daily Star. Let us know that Chinmay Krishna Das, spokesperson of Bangladesh involved Sanatani Jagran Jot and former ISKCON leader, was arrested at Dhaka Airport on 25 November last year. He is accused of insulting the national flag of Bangladesh and is accused of treason.
On January 2, he applied for bail in the High Court after his petition was dismissed by the lower court of Chittagong. In February, the Bangladesh High Court asked the government to clarify why Das should not be bail, which has been confirmed by his lawyer.
Das’s lawyer Apoorva Kumar Bhattacharya said in a statement to ANI, “The Bangladesh High Court has asked the government to respond to the decision within two weeks.”
During the hearing held on January 2 in Chittagong, Das’s defense argued that he has a deep respect for the motherland, which is equal to his mother, and is not a traitor. Despite these arguments, the court dismissed the bail plea.
