Seoul: A major plane accident has occurred at Muan International Airport in South Korea. Jeju Airlines plane met with an accident while landing here. This accident occurred due to a fault in the landing gear.
According to initial information, this accident occurred due to a malfunction in the landing gear. There were a total of 181 people on board this aircraft, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members. This plane was returning from Bangkok with 181 people.
Muan Airport where this accident occurred is about 290 km from Seoul. South Korea’s national fire agency said rescuers had rescued two people from the wreckage of the plane. A total of 85 people, including 46 women, have died in this accident. After the accident, 32 fire brigade vehicles and several helicopters were deployed to control the fire in the plane.
The accident occurred at 9:03 am local time. The plane was returning from Bangkok and passengers on board included two Thai nationals. Thai Prime Minister Paitongtarn Shinawatra expressed deep condolences to the families of those affected by the accident through a post on social platform X. It is one of the deadliest disasters in South Korea’s aviation history.
