The driver of the Jafar Express described the horrific moment when the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) rebels attacked and kidnapped the train. At the same time, the passengers rescued praised the army.
On Tuesday, the Jafar Express with 440 passengers going from Quetta to Peshawar was kidnapped, killing 21 civilians and four soldiers. According to a media report, after the attack, the driver of the train told how the rebels first put explosives under the engine of the train, causing the bogies derailed.
He said, “As soon as the train stopped, the BLA rebels attacked.”
Meanwhile, one of the released passengers explained how the attackers took him hostage after the explosion. The passenger said, “They took us hostage by showing fear of guns, but the commandos put their lives at risk to save us.” He said that the courage of the army gave them strength in this difficult time.
The train going from Quetta to Peshawar carrying around 440 passengers attacked a BLA rebels in a tunnel near the mountainous areas of Gudra and Piru Kunri on Tuesday. The rebels opened fire on the train and took the passengers hostage, after which the security forces had to start the operation.
Security forces attacked the Jafar Express train on Wednesday, which ended a 30 -hour siege in the rugged Bollana area of Balochistan and killed all 33 terrorists, while more than 300 passengers were successfully rescued.
Army chief spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary revealed that 21 civilians lost their lives during this period.
