Outgoing US President Joe Biden has said that he would have defeated Trump in the general elections held in November but he decided to withdraw his candidacy mid-election for the sake of unity of the Democratic Party.
Biden was asked at a press conference at the White House, “Mr. President, do you regret your decision not to contest the election? Do you think you gave your predecessor (Trump) an easy chance to become your successor?”
To this Biden said, “I don’t think so. I think I could have defeated Trump, I could have defeated him. I think Kamala (Harris) could have defeated Trump.
He said, ‘It is important to unify the party and when the party was worried about whether I would be able to move ahead or not, I thought it would be better to unify the party. “Although I thought I could win again.”
Biden (82)’s performance was nothing special in the ‘debate’ held between the presidential candidates in Atlanta in June, after which members of his own party started talking about Biden withdrawing from the race for this post and ultimately Biden Had decided to withdraw from the US presidential race against Trump. In place of Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris was made the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party. However, he had to face defeat at the hands of Trump.
During the press conference, Biden said that Kamala Harris is capable of contesting the presidential election again. “I think it’s a decision she can think about,” he said. He is eligible to contest elections again after four years. They will have to take this decision themselves.”
During this, Biden was asked, “Do you plan to remain active even after leaving the presidency, or are you going to follow the Bush model, where you will remain out of the public eye?”
Responding to this, Biden said, ‘I will neither disappear from sight nor from hearts.’
Democratic Party leader Biden will leave the presidency on January 20. In his place, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of America. Republican Party’s Trump had been the President of America even before Biden.
