According to the report, the police have taken the in -charge of the old age home into custody and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Hong Kong -based ‘South China Morning Post’ quoted ‘Jimu News’ as saying that according to public records, 260 elders were present at the time of fire in 300 -bed ‘Guoan Senior Home’. According to the license records, the purpose of this old age home is to provide housing, food to the elderly and the disabled. Earlier in January 2024, 39 people were killed and nine others were injured when a fire broke out in a building complex in Shinu city of Jiangshi province.
The investigation of the incident found that illegal ‘cold storage’ was constructed in the ground floor, which led to the accident. After this accident, more than 50 officers were punished for being found guilty. There was a financial loss of 43.52 million yuan (about US $ 5.9 million) in the accident. (Language)
