Wilmington (USA): At the Quad Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a big message to the whole world without naming the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Gaza conflict. By talking about respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with the international rule-based system, PM Modi once again expressed that India will not allow any country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty to be tampered with. Along with this, the Prime Minister also gave a strong message to China in the course of talks. Regarding the existence of the Quad, which has been set up in the Indo-Pacific region, especially against China, PM Modi said that this organization will always remain stable.
This means that a message has been given to China that this organization set up by the four most powerful countries of the world is not going to weaken. Prime Minister Modi said, “Our meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by tensions and conflicts. In such a situation, it is very important for the entire humanity that the Quad moves together on the basis of shared democratic values. It is very important for the entire humanity that the Quad moves together.
PM Modi said- we are not against anyone
PM Modi said that we are not against anyone. We all support a rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and peaceful resolution of all issues. A free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific is our shared priority and shared commitment. Together, we have taken many positive and inclusive initiatives in areas such as health, security, critical, emerging technologies, climate change, and capacity building.
Our message is clear – ‘The Quad is here to stay, to assist, to partner and to complement.’ I once again extend my greetings and congratulations to President Biden and all my colleagues. We would be delighted to host the Quad Leaders Summit in India in 2025.”
Biden said- Quad will remain in America even after the new government
When US President Joe Biden was asked – “Will the Quad continue even after the elections in November?”, he said, “Even beyond November.” Opening the US Presidential Conference, he said, “… In the first days of my presidency, I approached all of you, each of your nations, and proposed that we move the Quad forward. Make it even more important. After 4 years, our four countries are more strategically united than ever before.
Today we are announcing a series of initiatives to deliver a real positive impact for the Indo-Pacific, including providing our regional partners with new maritime technologies so they can know what’s happening in their waters, launching collaboration between coast guards for the first time, and expanding the Quad Fellowship to include students from Southeast Asia.
Anthony said- I am waiting to host PM Modi
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “It is great to be here amongst friends. Prime Minister Modi will host us next year and I am looking forward to that. Unlike some international forums, the Quad does not have a very long history. But it can evolve and I believe that is what is happening. We represent this region, which is the fastest growing region in the world in human history.
Kishida supports an open Indo-Pacific region
Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida said that “It is a pleasure to meet with the leaders of the Quad to discuss the future of the Indo-Pacific. The security environment around us is becoming increasingly grave and a free and open international order based on the rule of law is under threat. Against this backdrop, it is even more important for us, the Quad, who share values such as freedom and democracy, to continue to demonstrate to the international community our firm commitment to our shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Concerns over China
The Quad leaders said, “We are deeply concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas. We continue to express our grave concern about the militarization of disputed features and coercive and intimidating maneuvers in the South China Sea. We condemn the dangerous use of coast guard and maritime militia vessels, including the increased use of dangerous maneuvers. We also oppose attempts to disrupt other countries’ offshore resource exploitation activities. We reaffirm that maritime disputes should be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law, as reflected in UNCLOS…,” the statement said.
