Union Energy Minister Hardeep Puri said in a multinational conference held in the US to discuss the world’s energy needs that in the next two decades, India will contribute 25 percent to the global energy demand. That is, India alone will contribute 25 percent in meeting the world’s energy needs. In a way, India will become the powerhouse of global energy.
Let us tell you that the 52nd GasTech Exhibition and Conference started on Tuesday at the George R. Brown Convention Center here with strategic insights from five major energy ministers of the world, including India. Organized on the theme ‘Energy transformation through vision, innovation and action’, this program focused on global energy sustainability and the need to become carbon free rapidly. In his keynote address, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized India’s increasingly influential role in the global energy scenario. He said, “If global demand is increasing by one percent, then our demand is increasing three times faster.

India will contribute to 25 per cent of global growth in energy demand over the next two decades.” The minister described India’s challenge as the “energy trilemma” and stressed the need to strike a balance between availability, affordability and successful green transition. “We are confident in our ability to manage and succeed in the green transition,” Puri said. The first ministerial committee of the conference comprised officials from the US, India, Egypt, Nigeria and Turkey. They discussed important geopolitical and industry challenges. Meanwhile, India and the US have agreed to explore ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy value chain for an equitable and orderly energy transition.

Puri wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “…Met my friend and US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt in Houston today. We reviewed the existing energy cooperation and agreed to explore ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy value chain for an equitable and orderly energy transition.” Pyatt also informed about the meeting with Puri and the consensus reached between the two countries on social media.
