Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump as the 47th President. During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will also meet with some other dignitaries visiting the US.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday said that during his visit to Washington, Jaishankar will also meet with representatives of the Trump administration.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had given a special statement on the victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential elections, which was discussed a lot. Actually, Jaishankar had said that after the presidential elections, many countries are nervous about America, but India is not included in those countries. Jaishankar said in an event, ‘I think Prime Minister Modi was also involved in the first three phone calls made to President Trump.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 20, about two weeks after Trump’s victory in the US presidential election.

Earlier on January 6, Trump’s election victory was certified before his swearing-in, with no lawmakers raising any objections as the numbers of states were announced in the House. Donald Trump won 312 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris got 226 votes. The vote totals were confirmed during Monday’s certification, the final step in the election process before Trump returns to the White House on January 20.
