India requested Bangladesh to rethink his decision to demolish the ancestral property of famous filmmaker Satyajit Ray and offered to help preserve it because of this prestigious building symbolizing the Bengali cultural “Renaissance”.
India, describing the move to demolish this “historic” building located in Maman Singh, urged Bangladesh to convert it into a museum symbol of the common culture of the two countries and promised to cooperate for it.
The prestigious building was of filmmaker’s grandfather Upendra Kishore Ray Chaudhary, who was also a famous litterateur.
This response of the Ministry of External Affairs came after reports that Bangladeshi officials are going to demolish this building.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “It would be better to review the options of repairing and reconstruction as a symbol of demolition of this building and the museum of literature and the museum of literature and the shared culture of India and Bangladesh,” the Foreign Ministry said.
