India-Pakistan tension: Pakistan said, the right to call it a meeting of the Security Council

Pakistan said that it has the right to call the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting at the appropriate time when tension with India increases with India after the Pahalgam terror attack.

“We are seeing that everything is happening in the backdrop of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir,” a permanent representative of Pakistan, Pakistan’s permanent Representative of Pakistan, said at the United Nations.

Ahmed said this in response to a question, in which he was asked whether Pakistan is planning to call a security council meeting in view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan is currently a temporary member of the United Nations Security Council and will preside over the UN institution with 15 countries in July. Ahmed said, “It is clear here that it was an incident, but now the situation has arisen is a real threat to regional and international peace and security. And we believe that the Security Council really has this right and it would be completely valid for any member of the council including Pakistan to call a meeting of the Security Council, request a discussion and consider this serious situation.

Aseem Iftikhar Ahmed said, “We have discussed this with members of the council. We have discussed this with the last month’s president and the chairman of this month. We are keeping an eye on the situation very closely and we have the right to call a meeting when it looks appropriate. ”

Significantly, 26 people were killed by militants on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in tension between the two countries.
