Demolition in Swaminarayan Temple: The Indian Consulate in New York condemned the vandalism at the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple and demanded immediate action against the culprits of this ‘heinous act’.
“The vandalism at the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Melville, New York is unacceptable. The Consulate is in touch with the community,” the Indian Consulate wrote in a post on X on Monday.
According to the post, a demand has been made to the American law enforcement authorities to take immediate action against those responsible for this ‘heinous act’.
Melville is located in Suffolk County, Long Island. It is about 28 kilometers from the 16,000-seat Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a massive community event on September 22.
According to footage shared online, abusive words have been written on the temple’s signage.
The Hindu American Foundation, in a post on X on Monday, demanded that the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security should investigate the attack on the temple.
According to the post, Hindu institutions have recently received threats and a large Indian community conference is scheduled to take place in nearby Nassau County this weekend.
BAPS Swaminarayan temple vandalised
“It is hard to comprehend the cowardice of those who would target a Hindu temple to express hatred for an elected leader,” Suhag Shukla, executive director of the Hindu American Foundation, wrote in a post on X.
The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) said in another post on X that Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu recently released a video threatening Hindu and Indian institutions, including HAF.
According to the post, the vandalism in New York is similar to the attacks on temples in California and Canada.
Earlier in early July, the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Edmonton, Canada was vandalised.
