Tehran: Iran has offered to help India in the case of Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who was sentenced to death in a case in Yemen. Why does Iran want to help?
Iran has expressed willingness to hold another round of talks on this issue with Indian Consulate officials. Tehran hopes that with this it will get a chance to revive trade relations with India including oil supply. Iran has made this offer at a time when Western countries including America have imposed an international ban on the export of crude oil to Russia. In such a situation, Iran wants to become an alternative to the Russian oil market. However, recently America has also banned 3 oil companies of Iran.
Tehran wants to sell oil to India
Iran expects Tehran to call for reviving trade ties with India, including resuming oil supplies to India. Iran has also expressed its desire for a bilateral agreement with India, which would provide an opportunity to boost trade with Tehran despite facing sanctions. However, there are different reasons for international sanctions on Iran and Russia. But the question remains in Iran’s mind that when India can buy oil from Russia despite the sanctions, then why not from Tehran?
