Italian journalist Cecilia Sala
Rome: An Italian journalist who was arrested in Iran on December 19 last year has been released. Officials have given information about this. Prime Minister Georgia Meloni’s office said the plane carrying Cecilia Sala had left Tehran. Accordingly, considerable efforts were made at the diplomatic level to ensure his release. Iranian government did not give any statement
There was no immediate statement from the Iranian government regarding the release of the journalist. Cecilia Sala is a correspondent of a daily. He was arrested in Tehran on 19 December, three days after arriving in Iran on a journalist visa. According to Iran’s government news agency ‘Irana’, he had violated the country’s laws. Cecilia was arrested following the arrest of an Iranian engineer in Italy on a US warrant.

Abedini was arrested on December 16 at Milan’s Malpensa Airport on a US warrant.
