Jerusalem: Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant has declared a ‘new phase’ of the war. With the explosions of electronic equipment in Lebanon, the risk of war between Israel and Hezbollah has increased further. A day after the explosions in the pager, incidents of explosions in electronic equipment took place in many parts of Lebanon on Wednesday as well. At least 20 people died in the blasts on Wednesday and a large number of people were injured. There was already tension between Israel and Hezbollah but the situation is changing rapidly after the blasts.
‘There are chances of war, hopes are fading away’
Hopes of a diplomatic solution between Israel and Hezbollah appear to be fading fast. Israel has begun to strengthen its front in the north of the country and in recent days heavy military forces have been deployed to the northern border. Statements are also being seen from former officials. A retired Israeli brigadier said, ‘You attack thousands of people and think that there is no war going to happen.’
Army did exercise
It is noteworthy that along with military activities, sharp reactions are also being seen. The Israeli army has also said that it has conducted several exercises on the border this week. Major General Ori Gordin, head of Israel’s Northern Command, said, “The mission is clear. We are fully prepared to change the reality of the security situation as soon as possible.”

Many Hezbollah hideouts destroyed
After the blasts, the Israeli army carried out a major airstrike on Wednesday night. Many Hezbollah hideouts were destroyed in this attack. The Israeli army said that it targeted several hideouts in southern Lebanon with artillery and jet planes. The army said that the air strikes attacked Hezbollah hideouts in Chihine, Taybe, Blida, Mees al-Jabal, Ataroun and Kafarkela in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah’s weapon storage site in the area of Khiyam was also targeted.
‘No decision has been taken regarding the attack’
It should also be mentioned here that after a meeting with top security officials on Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said that we will safely send the residents of the north to their homes. Israeli media reported on Wednesday that the government has not yet decided whether to launch a major attack in Lebanon or not. (AP)
