Israeli accepted the bilateral ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, 24 June 2025, with the end of the 12-day Israel-Iran war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Israel achieved all the targets in its military action, ‘Operation Rising Lion’, which included “completely destroying” Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities. Netanyahu thanked Trump and America, who granted defense assistance and participation in the campaign.
The ceasefire came into force by Iran a few hours after the missile attack on the US military base al-revere on the US military base in Qatar on Monday, which was the response to the US on Saturday with the B-2 stealth bombers at Iran’s Fordo, Natanj and Isfahan nuclear bases. Iran described these attacks as a “violation of international law”, but Tehran agreed to the ceasefire after the mediation of Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Netanyahu said in his statement, “Israel ended the double immediate threat in the nuclear and ballistic missile areas.” However, he warned that Israel would “strongly answer” if the ceasefire is violated. Government television on behalf of Iran confirmed the ceasefire from 7:30 am on Tuesday, but at the same time Israel reported the death of five people in the Iranian missile attack in Birsheba.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi initially denied ceasefire, but later said that if the Israeli attack stops, Iran will do so. The United Nations Atomic Monitoring Institution (IAEA) warned that the attack on the Bushahar reactor could bring nuclear disaster in the Middle East. Oil prices reached a two -week low of oil due to reduced tension in global markets.
The war began with attacks in Tehran, Israel on 13 June, killing many Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. Trump called it a “12 -day war” and called it his diplomatic win.
