Israel and Lebanon accused each other of ceasefire violations after Israeli forces attacked a Hezbollah base in southern Lebanon.
News agency ANI shared this information quoting Al Jazeera. The attack on Thursday came as Israel Defense Forces said they opened fire on several areas in Lebanon that were “violating the terms of the ceasefire”.
Lebanon alleged that Israel violated the terms of the ceasefire several times on Wednesday and Thursday, Al Jazeera reported.
The Israeli airstrike was the first since the ceasefire began on Wednesday morning. Lebanese security sources and local news outlets reported that the attack occurred near Bessariya, north of the Litani River.
According to Al Jazeera, after the attack Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he has instructed the army to be prepared for war if the ceasefire is violated.
Earlier in the day, US President Joe Biden announced he spoke to the prime ministers of Lebanon and Israel, who have accepted a US proposal to end “the devastating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah”.
US President Joe Biden announced the news in a post on Twitter.
Today, I have good news to report from the Middle East.
I have spoken to the Prime Ministers of Lebanon and Israel. And I am pleased to announce:
They have accepted the United States’ proposal to end the devastating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

He wrote, “Today, I have good news to report from the Middle East. I have spoken to the prime ministers of Lebanon and Israel. And I am pleased to announce: They have agreed to end the devastating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. “The United States has accepted the proposal to terminate.”
Israel and Lebanon have been in a long-running conflict, which began in October last year, when Hezbollah attacked the Israeli-controlled territory in solidarity with Hamas and the Palestinians in Gaza, CNN reported.
This incident triggered a series of attacks along the border, which eventually culminated in a major military offensive launched by Israel in mid-September.
In September this year, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out airstrikes against the Iran-backed Hezbollah group and sent troops to southern Lebanon. This was done in response to rocket attacks by Hezbollah into Israel, in order to show solidarity with the Hamas group, which carried out deadly attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Against the backdrop of this volatile situation, a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was negotiated by the US and France.
