United Nations: Israeli army launched a major attack on a major airport in Yemen. World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom and many other officials narrowly escaped this attack. The United Nations has been enraged by this Israeli attack. Let us tell you that air strikes were carried out on Yemen’s airport when a civilian ‘Airbus 320’ plane carrying hundreds of passengers was landing and a United Nations delegation was present there. Julian Harneys, the top UN official for humanitarian operations in Yemen, gave this information on Friday.
Harneys told UN reporters that the most frightening thing about Thursday’s two airstrikes was not that they were aimed at him and the UN World Health Organization, which was in the VIP lounge of the international airport in Yemen’s capital Sanaa. What affected about 15 other people including the (WHO) chief, but the most dangerous thing was that this incident of destruction of the airport control tower happened when the plane of ‘Yemenia Airways’ was landing there.
WHO director was present in the airport lounge
“Fortunately, the plane landed safely and the passengers were evacuated safely,” said Harneys, who was in the lounge with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the time of the attacks. He said one of the air strikes hit the VIP lounge. About 300 meters south of and the second attack about 300 meters north at 5.45 pm. About five UN team members were outside the building at the time of the attack. The United Nations said at least three people were killed and dozens injured in the attack. He said the injured also included a crew member of a United Nations humanitarian air service aircraft. The plane was supposed to take a UN delegation of about 20 people out of Sanaa. (AP)
