Jerusalem: Israel’s Foreign Minister said on Monday that Israeli forces have attacked and destroyed suspected chemical weapons sites and long-range rockets in Syria so that they cannot fall into the hands of enemies. “Our only interest is the security of Israel and its citizens,” Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said.
‘Weapons should not fall into the hands of terrorists’
The Foreign Minister said that Israeli forces attacked and destroyed these weapons so that they could not fall into the hands of terrorists. Saar said this after Syrian rebels advanced on Damascus over the weekend and overthrew the government of President Bashar Assad after nearly 14 years of civil war.
America also rained bombs
America has also carried out air strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria. US Central Command said its security forces have carried out dozens of airstrikes against Islamic State targets in central Syria. The aim of these air strikes is to prevent the re-emergence of Islamic State in the war-torn country.
