The road to Syria was also destroyed in Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon.
Beirut: The Israeli army is carrying out rapid attacks on the positions of Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon. Now Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has also blown up the road from Lebanon to Syria in a massive airstrike. Lebanon’s Transport Minister Ali Hamieh told Reuters that Israel carried out the deadly airstrike near the Syria-Lebanon Masna border on Friday morning. The Lebanese minister says the road was being used by hundreds of thousands of Lebanese fleeing into Syria to escape Israeli bombing in recent days. But Israel has now cut off that road.
Hamieh said the attack occurred inside Lebanese territory across the border, leaving a four-metre (12 ft) wide crater. A military spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had alleged on Thursday that the crossing was being used to transport military equipment into Lebanon on behalf of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. “The IDF will not allow the smuggling of these weapons and will not hesitate to take action if forced to do so, as it has done throughout this war,” IDF spokesman Avichai Adrai said on Twitter. The very next day, on Friday, the IDF destroyed this road in an airstrike.
Now Hezbollah terrorists will not be able to flee Syria
The Israeli army is conducting ground operations against Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon. According to the IDF, in addition to arms smuggling, Hezbollah also used this route to travel to other countries via Syria. He could have fled Lebanon through this route to save his life from the Israeli attack. But now it will be difficult for them to escape. Lebanon’s transport minister Hamieh told a news conference on Thursday that the crossing was under the authority of the Lebanese state. According to Lebanese government figures, more than 300,000 people – the majority of whom were Syrians – fled from Lebanon to Syria over the past 10 days to escape Israeli bombardment. (Reuters)
