DAMASCUS: Israel has launched heavy airstrikes in Syria and its troops have pushed deeper into the country, reaching within 25 kilometers of the capital, a Syrian war observer said Tuesday. Israel has rejected the idea of its forces entering Damascus. Associated Press journalists in Damascus reported heavy air strikes in the city and its suburbs overnight and into Tuesday.
