Allenby Crossing: Three Israeli citizens were killed in a shootout at the border crossing between the West Bank and Jordan. Israeli officials have given information about this. The Israeli army said that the gunman arrived at the Allenby Crossing from the Jordan side in a truck on Sunday and started firing at Israeli security forces. The Israeli army said that the gunman was killed in retaliatory fire. Israel’s emergency rescue service has said that the three people killed were around 50 years of age.
Jordan is investigating the matter
The army said all those killed were civilians. Relatives of the gunman identified him as Maher al-Jazi, a retired Jordanian soldier from Athroh, a town in the economically impoverished Maan region. Jordan’s state-run Petra news agency said he used to deliver goods in the West Bank. The interior ministry said initial information suggested the incident appeared to be an individual act. Jordan is investigating the case.
