Benjamin Netanyahu, PM of Israel.
Budapest: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached the capital of Hungary early Thursday where he was warmly welcomed. However, the world’s top war crime court has issued an arrest warrant against him.
In November, the International Crime Court (ICC) issued a warrant against Netanyahu, after which this is the Israeli Prime Minister’s second foreign trip. As soon as Netanyahu reached Budapest, Hungary said he would start the process of separation from the ICC. “Hungary International Crime will be different from the court,” the ‘Chief of Staff’ of Prime Minister Victor Orban said in a brief statement.
Budapest will be different from ICC
He said that the government will start the process of separation from the ICC on Thursday as per the constitutional and international legal framework. Netanyahu was welcomed with full military honors at the Castle District of Budapest, the capital, where he stood with the side. The two leaders are scheduled to negotiate on Thursday. Netanyahu will leave from here on Sunday. (AP)
