It is important to preserve the records of ‘atrocities’ made by Sheikh Hasina rule: Younus

by Rajeev Bansal
March 3, 2025

Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has called for a “careful protection” of the records of alleged atrocities committed during the administration of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to the Dhaka Tribune report, during a meeting with United Nations officials on Sunday, Younus emphasized that without proper archival system “it is difficult to know and ensure justice.”

A statement issued by the press wing of the Chief Advisor stated that the Chief Advisor, during a conversation with the United Nations Resident Coordinator Guen Lewis and United Nations Human Rights Specialist Huma Khan, took action on protesters in Shapla Charpatar, the police’s deception against the protesters after the delivers Hussain Saeedi verdict and the years after the reserves.

In response, United Nations officials confirmed their desire to assist Bangladesh in registering cases of human rights violations. Offering the United Nations expertise in technical support and capacity building, Lewis said, “This is a process of treatment and truth-building.”

Yunus also praised the organization’s recent fact-deception report on human rights violations after the July-August 2024 rebellion, which led to the end of the 15-year-old Awami League government and Hasina had to flee to India.

According to Lewis, the United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner Volcar Turk will present the document at the Human Rights Council session in Geneva on 5 March. Yunus said, “We are very happy that the United Nations has published this report; it is on time.”

The plight of Rohingya refugees was also discussed in the discussion, Lewis expressed concern over the declining international assistance. UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres will visit Bangladesh from 13 to 16 March. Lewis hopes that the journey will re -focus global attention to the refugee crisis.

Louis said, “We are very worried about the situation of wealth.”

He said that US $ 15 million per month is required to meet food supply and other basic needs for Rohingya refugees.
