Jakarta: 16 people died and 9 others are missing due to flash floods and landslides on Indonesia’s Java island. Officials have given information about this on Tuesday. He said rescue workers recovered the bodies of 16 people during relief and rescue operations who were swept away by flash floods in villages located in the mountainous region of the main island of Java. These bodies were buried under debris and rocks. He said that 9 people are reported missing in the flood and landslide incident.

The head of the local disaster management agency, Bergus Katursari, said that torrential rains on Monday caused river floods to engulf nine villages in Pekalongan regency in Central Java province. During this period, soil and rocks fell down from the slopes of the mountains in the mountainous area, many trees were also uprooted. He said rescue workers had recovered at least 16 bodies from the worst-hit Petungkriono village by Tuesday. The search is on for the villagers who are missing.
