Earthquake havoc, learn in 10 points

On Friday, at 12:50 pm (0650 GMT), a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the north-west of Myanmar’s Sagiing, which was at a 10-km shallow depth. A few minutes later, another shock of 6.7 magnitude came and then many small shocks were felt.

The impact of the earthquake was felt throughout the region, which shaken the buildings of Cambodia and Laos along with China in the west and China in the east. Myanmar’s military jute said in a statement this morning that the death toll in the country has crossed 1,000.

The ongoing civil war in Myanmar, which began with the army occupying power, has severely weakened emergency services, unable to deal with the disaster of this magnitude.

In the neighboring country Thailand, an earthquake collapsed a tall building under construction near the quadruped market in Bangkok, killing 10 people. More than 100 workers are feared trapped in the debris.

The earthquake turned into a pile of debris and folded metal in Mandalay, Myanmar, under which residents and emergency employees had to struggle to save people trapped. The nearly 100 -year -old structure on the river Iravadi from Sagaiing fell into the Ava Bridge water. Junta chief Min Aung Holiing requested aid to “any country, any organization”. India was at the forefront of assisting Myanmar. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed readiness for concern and assistance. “I am worried about the situation in the wake of earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. I am praying for the safety and goodness of all. India is ready to provide all possible help. In this regard, our officials asked to stay on Standby. Also asked the Ministry of External Affairs to stay in touch with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a statement, “The Indian Air Force has sent 15 tonnes of relief materials including tents, blankets, water purifiers and essential medicines from its Hindon Air Base to assist Myanmar. Under ‘Operation Brahma’, India is also sending a troop of 80 National Disaster Response Forces (NDRF) personnel to assist in relief and rescue work.

The Thailand government, led by Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinavatra, held an emergency meeting to assess the impact of the earthquake. The Indian Embassy in Thailand did not report any casualties of any of the Indian citizens, but advised to be vigilant.

The European Union and the United States also promised support. US President Donald Trump confirmed that Washington was in touch with Myanmar officials. “This is really very bad, and we will help.”

Relief rescue operations are going on in the damaged areas due to earthquake, the number of dead and injured is expected to increase.
