Manmohan Singh was one of the greatest supporters of US-India strategic partnership: Antony Blinken

The US has condoled the death of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Secretary of State Antony Blinken described him as one of the biggest supporters of the two countries’ bilateral strategic partnership. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the pioneer of economic reforms in India, died on Thursday night at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He was 92 years old.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “Dr. Singh was one of the greatest proponents of the US-India strategic partnership and his work laid the foundation for much of what our two countries have achieved together over the past two decades.” Expressing heartfelt condolences to the people of India on Singh’s death, Blinken said the former Prime Minister’s leadership in advancing the US-India civil nuclear cooperation agreement represents a major investment in the potential of the US-India relationship.

Blinken said, “Dr. Singh will be remembered for his economic reforms that fueled India’s rapid economic growth. We mourn Dr. Singh’s passing and recognize his efforts to bring America and India closer together.” Will always remember his dedicated contribution.” Expressing grief over Singh’s demise, Indian American Congressman Ro Khanna said the former prime minister will always be remembered for his pioneering economic reforms that boosted India’s economic growth.

Khanna said, “I am proud to have worked with the Bush administration for the US-India nuclear deal and in my office, Prime Minister Singh sent me a letter of thanks for my work. I will always have respect for him.” Expressing his heartfelt condolences to the former Prime Minister’s family and the people of India, Atul Keshap, President of the US India Business Council, said Singh has served to advance and modernize the US-India relationship and bring the two democracies closer to strategic, economic and Played an important role in taking us on the steady path of technological convergence.

The board of the US India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) said Singh’s vision, teachings and leadership will be lessons for future generations. Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he was saddened to hear the news of the demise of his former ally Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

He added, “He was a man of extraordinary intelligence, integrity and wisdom. Lauren and I offer our condolences to his family and friends.” Tanvi Madan of the think-tank ‘Brookings Institute’ said, “If India and America have overcome some of the hesitations of history, much of the credit should be given to Dr. Manmohan Singh for this. Today, people are exploring everything from the deep sea to space.” This cooperation would not have been possible without the risks he was willing to take.” Indian Overseas Congress vice-president George Abraham said Singh would be remembered for his outstanding contribution to India’s economic and social development.
