A Belgian court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of Hira businessman Mehul Choksi, the main accused in the Rs 13,000 crore fraud case associated with Punjab National Bank. His lawyer gave this information.
Choksi was arrested by the Belgian Police on April 12, based on an extradition request by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Choksi’s lawyer Vijay Aggarwal said that during the court hearing on Tuesday, his client’s bail plea was dismissed.
Choksi was living in Antigua after leaving India in 2018 and took citizenship of the Caribbean country, while his Indian citizenship is said to be valid.
