Sao Paulo: The massive storm that hit Sao Paulo, Brazil has created an outcry. The storm was so powerful that at least 7 people died, while about 1.4 million homes lost power on Saturday in South America’s largest metropolis. Lakhs of people have become homeless. Sao Paulo officials said the storm, which hit 67 miles (108 kilometers) per hour Friday night, hit power transmission lines and uprooted scores of trees, causing serious damage in some areas.

At many places, roofs of houses, shops and houses were uprooted. Cars and other vehicles started flowing in the wind and water like paper. This spread panic among the people. According to the state government, several airports also had to be closed due to the storm and drinking water service was disrupted in many areas. Officials said one person was killed when a tree uprooted and fell on a shop.
