Typhoon Yagi caused havoc in China.
Beijing: After taking the lives of 2 people, the Yagi storm in China has assumed a more horrific form. The Chinese authorities have displaced more than 4 lakh people to safer places due to Yagi. It is being told that an alert has been issued again to the people after 2 people died and about 100 people were injured due to heavy rains and strong winds of ‘Yagi’ hitting the coast of Hainan, an island province in South China.
Let us tell you that Yagi is the 11th storm (typhoon) of this year which hit the coast of China on Friday. It first hit Hainan and then reached Guangdong province. China issued a ‘red alert’ on Friday and warned of floods in the southern region, as Yagi storm first reached Hainan, then reached southern Guangdong province and it is expected to reach China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and northern Vietnam. According to the report of ‘South China Morning Post’ published from Hong Kong, more than 10 lakh people have been evacuated from the affected areas. Classes in educational institutions have been postponed, business establishments have been closed and more than 100 flights were canceled on Friday.

In videos circulating on social media, coconut trees could be seen toppled in the province, with billboards toppled and vehicles overturned. According to the Hainan Meteorological Service, Yagi, which had winds of about 245 km/h (152 mph) near its epicentre, made landfall in Wenchang around 4 p.m. on Friday. From 1949 to 2023, 106 typhoons have hit Hainan, but only nine have been classified as super typhoons. Guangdong provincial governor Wang Weizhong urged local officials to “spare no effort” and “win a tough battle” against Yagi. The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and storms to western Guangdong province and the Pearl River Delta on Saturday.
