How much will the salary of MPs increase?
According to reports, after the bill is passed, now the salary of MPs will now increase in Pakistani currency by more than Rs 2,18,000 to Rs 5,19,000. This amount in Indian currency is about 1.62 lakh rupees. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz i.e. PML-N MP Romina Khurshid Alam introduced the Member of Parliament Pay and Allowance (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the National Assembly, which passed it by majority. This will increase the salary of MPs by 138 percent. Earlier, the Finance Committee of the National Assembly approved the bill in a meeting chaired by Chairman Ayaz Sadiq on 26 January.
No MP objected
It is worth noting that when the country is going through a serious economic phase, neither the opposition MPs related to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf nor any MP of the ruling party objected to increasing their salary.
