Now her government has increased Sheikh Hasina’s tension by starting a new investigation. An anti-corruption committee in Bangladesh has launched an investigation against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family in connection with allegations of embezzlement of US$5 billion at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. A report has been published in the media in this regard. Indian companies are involved in the construction of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh. It is being constructed by Russian government company Rosatom. The first Bangladeshi nuclear power plant, designed by Russia, is being built at Rooppur, 160 kilometers west of Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.

Allegation of embezzlement of five billion US dollars

The report said that there is an allegation of embezzlement of five billion US dollars in the Rooppur nuclear power plant project. According to reports, the development comes two days after the High Court issued a ruling asking the anti-corruption regulator to investigate the alleged transfer of US$5 billion from the Rooppur nuclear power plant project to a Malaysian bank by Hasina, Joy and Tulip. Why should the inaction of the Commission (ACC) not be declared illegal? According to ACC documents, allegations of corruption in the Rooppur nuclear power plant project were brought forward by National Democratic Movement (NDM) president Bobby Hajjaj.
