Hindu leader murdered in Bangladesh
Another incident of violence against the minority community in Bangladesh has come to light. A major Hindu community leader in Bangladesh was allegedly kidnapped from his house and beaten to death in Dinajpur district of the country. According to media reports, The Daily Star quoted police and family members as saying that the body of Habesh Chandra Roy, a resident of Basudevpur village in Dinajpur, located about 330 km north-west from Dhaka, has been recovered on Thursday night.
Who was Hubesh Chandra Roy? How did the murder happen
58 -year -old Roy Bangladesh Pooja was the vice -president of the Udjapan Parishad Vice President and a prominent leader of the Hindu community in the region. Hubesh Roy received a call at around 4:30 pm on Friday evening, which he claimed that the criminals had done so to confirm his house. Roy’s wife Shantana told The Daily Star. The report further states, “About 30 minutes later, four people came to his house riding on two motorcycles and allegedly abducted Bhabesh from the premises. He was recovered in an injured state and when the family members took Roy to the hospital, he was unconscious. He was later declared dead.
What did the police say
The Daily Star quoted the officer -in -charge of Birral Police Station Abdus Sabur as saying that preparations were underway to register a case. He said that the police is working to identify and arrest the suspects.
India expressed concern
Meanwhile, India on Friday rejected the comments of the Bangladeshi officials on violence in West Bengal and asked Dhaka to focus on protecting the rights of its minorities rather than indulging in “virtuous demonstrations”. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “We dismiss the comments made by Bangladesh regarding the events of West Bengal. He said,” This is a hidden and fraudulent effort to compare India’s concerns on the atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh, where criminals of such acts are opening openly. “
