Sam Nujoma: Sam Nujoma, the first President of Namibia and prominent leader of the freedom struggle, died at the age of 95. He breathed his last at a hospital in Windhoek on Saturday night. Nujoma led the country in the most difficult phase of Namibia’s liberation struggle. He spent 30 years in exile before returning to parliamentary elections in 1989. When Namibia gained independence in 1990, he was elected the first President of the country.
