Nearly 200 terrorists including 24 commanders were killed in Pakistan in the month of November –

Peshawar: Nearly 200 terrorists, including 24 commanders, have been killed in the month of November as part of the army’s anti-terrorism operations in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. All these terrorists were associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Baloch Liberation Army and other terrorist groups. The officers provided this information. Officials said that in view of the recent attacks by terrorist groups, security forces have intensified their operations against terrorist groups.

He said that under these operations, 199 terrorists were killed in the month of November, including 24 key commanders of banned organizations. Officials said that the slain commanders allegedly included senior leaders and were wanted by the security forces for a long time. All of them were associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Lashkar-e-Islam, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF).

The death toll in sectarian violence in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province rose to 130 on Sunday, with at least six people killed. Meanwhile, clashes in the restive Kurram district continued for the eleventh consecutive day. Clashes between the Alizai and Bagan tribes in the district began on November 22, when a convoy of passenger vans was attacked near Parachinar, killing 47 people a day earlier. Several seriously injured passengers later succumbed to their injuries, taking the death toll to 57.

Police said the situation remains tense and violence continues despite a recent ceasefire agreement between Sunni and Shia groups. According to the information received, the death toll increased to 130 with the deaths of six more people on Sunday, while the total number of injured increased to 186 after eight more people were reported injured. In Kurram area also, communication system is down, mobile and internet services are suspended and educational institutions are closed. (input language)
