Nepal’s new NOC rules apply for UAE passengers, Indian migrants suffered a big loss during visit

by Rajeev Bansal
June 10, 2025

Many people of India living in UAE suffered a loss of delay and money due to a low-term rule that suddenly implemented during the recent visit to Nepal. Under this rule, people who are returning to Gulf countries (such as UAE) from Nepal are required to take ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from the Indian Embassy. Many passengers were not aware of this rule and by the time they came to know, it was too late.

NOC required for return

Mannu Palerichala, who lives in Dubai, said that his Eid holiday visit became tense when Immigration officials at Kathmandu Airport told him that ‘NOC’ (NOC ‘(NOC) is necessary for return. He said, ‘We were not aware of this at all, this thing suddenly came to light. Mannu and his family had gone to Pokhara by then, which is about 200 km from the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Travel agents in UAE have confirmed that this rule was already present, but now it is being implemented strictly. Safir Mohammad, general manager of Smart Travels, said, officials saw that some people were misusing this rule in cases of human trafficking and tax evasion. He said, now we advise all the customers to get NOC already made. In the UAE, Thabseer Ahmed said that this rule caused a loss of more than 1,400 dirham. He told, “We came to know only about NOC at Nepal Airport, when we were returning from the holidays.”

His return flight was at 3 am on Sunday, so he could not take the help of the Indian Embassy on time and the flight was missed.
He said, I tried to go to Dubai via New Delhi, but after reaching there, I had to buy a new ticket in Dubai. Due to the change in the journey plan at the last moment, many passengers had to book new tickets, causing them to lose money. ”

These documents have to be deposited to get NOC

To get NOC (No Objection Certificate), passengers have to submit these documents like passport size photo, passport copy, UAE resident visa copy, Emirates ID, Immigration Stamp, Flight Tickets and an application form. 3,100 Nepalese per capita is its fee to get NOC.

Mannu said that due to passing Nepal, many Indians living in Gulf countries go there for holidays. He also said, ‘Travel agents should give the passengers the right information about the NOC rule in advance so that there is no useless loss.
