A top South Korean military official said the missiles were fired from the northern inland area and appeared to be short-range ballistic missiles. However, it was not immediately clear how far into the sea the missiles fell.
The official said that the South Korean Army has activated the surveillance system by sharing information in this regard with the armies of America and Japan.
This is North Korea’s second missile launch in 2025 after last week’s ballistic missile launch. North Korea had said that it had tested a new ‘hypersonic missile’ on January 6.
North Korea said its Jan. 6 test was designed to hit remote targets in the Pacific region.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has vowed to further expand his stockpile of nuclear-capable weapons to counter adversaries.
