Washington: America has taken a step towards becoming the world leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the coming days. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to increase America’s global dominance in artificial intelligence (AI) and reverse the Biden administration’s policies to make AI “free of ideological bias or social agenda.” This is expected to bring a big revolution in the field of AI in the whole world including America.
Trump’s executive order calls on departments and agencies to modify or rescind all policies, directives, regulations, orders, and other actions initiated under Biden’s AI executive order. The President signs the executive order in the Oval Office. “It is US policy to maintain and enhance America’s global AI dominance to promote human prosperity, economic competitiveness, and national security,” the order said.
Trump gave executive order on AI for the first time in 2019
The Trump administration rescinded the Biden administration’s AI executive order, claiming that it hampers the private sector’s ability to innovate by imposing unnecessarily burdensome requirements on AI-related companies. Trump signed the first executive order on artificial intelligence in 2019, during his first term, recognizing the paramount importance of American AI leadership to America’s economic and national security.
