Riyadh: US President Donald Trump has met Syrian interim President Ahmed Al-Shara. This was the first meeting of the leaders of the two countries after 25 years. The meeting is considered to be very important for Syria, which has been struggling to overcome the situation of internationally isolated for decades. The talks, which took place from the meeting of Trump with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), is a major development for Syria, who has been recovering from the ‘Asad family’ over 50 years of reign. He is a warrior.” The meeting on Wednesday is also important because Al-Shara was associated with al-Qaeda in the name of Abu Mohammad al-Golani and was among the rebels fighting American forces in Iraq before participating in the Syrian war. American forces had imprisoned him there for several years. Trump said, “He is a real leader. He has taken up the responsibility and he is very amazing.”

Earlier in 2000, Hafiz Assad met the then US President Bill Clinton in Geneva as the President of Syrian. Saudi Arabia’s Yuvraj Mohammed bin Salman also attended the meeting of Trump and Al-Shara. Apart from this, Turki President Rajab Tayyab Ardoan attended the meeting through phone calls. The Turkas are the main supporters of al-shara and their rebellious faction.

Saudi’s crown prince played a big role

Trump said about Syria, “I am sure this will give him a chance. He has a good chance. It was an honor for me to do so.” Trump said that he was mainly encouraged by Saudi’s Yuvraj Mohammed to meet Al-Shara. White House press secretary Caroline Lewit said in a statement that Trump urged Al-Shara to diplomally recognize Israel, “ask all foreign terrorists to leave Syria” and help the US to stop any kind of bulge of the Islamic State Group. Al-Shra became the interim President of Syria in January this year.
