Indiaspora, a non-profit organization of the global Indian community, on Monday congratulated Donald Trump before he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States and expressed hope that US-India relations will deepen under the new administration.
MR Rangaswami, Founder-Chairman of Indiaspora, said, “On behalf of Indiaspora and the Indian-American community, I would like to congratulate the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump. I hope that US-India relations will deepen in the new political environment in America.
“Top government officials from both parties have established strong relationships during President Trump’s first term in office, and there is strong bipartisan support in the United States to advance this important bilateral relationship,” Rangaswami said.
In his second term, Trump has appointed many Indian-Americans in areas such as civil rights, national security and technology. Prominent among them are Harmeet Kaur Dhillon, Vivek Ramaswamy, Kash Patel, Jai Bhattacharya and Sriram Krishnan.
Sanjeev Joshipura, Executive Director, Indiaspora, said, “Indiaspora has had two key areas of focus over the past few years – increasing the civic and political engagement of Indian diaspora and strengthening US-India relations.”
He said, “It is heartening to see that every American administration, regardless of their political affiliation, has appointed Indian-Americans to senior positions in the government and the incoming Trump administration has also continued this trend.
