Kinshasa: A painful accident has occurred in the Congo. A boat has overturned after the fire. At least 50 people have died in the accident and hundreds of people have gone missing. Giving information about the accident, a local officer said that the accident took place in the river Koa. Due to the fire in the boat, many people have also been badly scorched. Many people have also been rescued during the accident.
Search for missing people continues
Red Cross and local administration officials are helping. Rescue teams are searching for missing people after the accident. Officer Competant Loyoko told the news agency ‘Associated Press’ that there were about 400 passengers in a motorized wooden boat, but there was a big accident due to fire near the city of Mabandaka.
What did the officer say
Officer Loyoko said that the boat named HB Kongolo had left for Bolomba area from Matanakumu port. He said that about 100 people rescued in this accident have been taken to a temporary shelter in Mabandaka Town Hall. At the same time, the injured have been admitted to local hospitals.
Due to this fire
Loyoko said the incident occurred when a woman was cooking on a boat. He said that after the boat caught fire, many people including women and children jumped into the river. Many people lost their lives due to jumping in the river because they did not know how to swim. There is a wave of mourning across the country after the accident.
