Pak leaders asked to reconsider Trump’s recommendation for Nobel Peace Prize

Some Pakistan leaders and prominent personalities have asked the government to reconsider their decision to recommend the name of President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize after the US attack on three nuclear centers in Iran.

The government on Friday took a surprising step and announced that it would recommend Trump’s name for peace efforts during the India-Pakistan struggle recently for this prestigious award.

The recommendation letter with the signature of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been sent to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Norway. But after the US attacked the furdos, Isfahan and Natanj nuclear centers of Iran, objections have started coming about this decision.

The ‘Don’ newspaper wrote that some prominent politicians have demanded the government to review their decision in view of the latest developments.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman, a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), demanded that the government withdraw its decision.

Fazal told the workers at a party meeting in Marri on Sunday, “President Trump’s claim of peace has proved to be false; The proposal for the Nobel Prize should be withdrawn. ”

He said Trump’s recent meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir and having food with the two, ‘Pakistani rulers were so happy’ that he recommended the US President to nominate for the Nobel Prize.

Fazal questioned, “Trump has supported Israel’s attacks on Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Iran.” How can this be a sign of peace? ”

He said, “When America has blood of Afghans and Palestinians, how can he claim to be a supporter of peace?”

Former senator Mushahid Hussain wrote on ‘X’, “Since Trump is no longer a possible peacekeepers, but there is a leader who has deliberately waged an illegal war, so the Government of Pakistan should now rethink his name recommendation for the Nobel Prize, can cancel it!”

He said that Trump is trapped in the trap of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s ‘War Lobby’, and “making the biggest mistake of his presidential post”.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MP Ali Muhammad Khan wrote “Rethink” on his ‘X’ account. He claimed “American attack on Iran and continuous US support for the murders committed by Israel in Gaza.

In a separate post, the opposition PTI condemned the US attacks without provoking them and expressed ‘full support’ for Iran’s sovereignty.

Former Pakistan Ambassador to the US, Maliha Lodhi, termed the move as “unfortunate” and said it does not reflect public views.

Senior journalist Mariana Babur said in a post on ‘X’ that “Pakistan does not look very good today”. He said this while sharing the post of the Pak government recommended by Trump’s name.

Writer and social activist Fatima Bhutto said, “Will Pakistan withdraw the recommendation of her (Trump’s) recommendation for the Nobel Peace Prize?”
