Islamabad: A Pakistani court on Monday postponed till January 6 its verdict in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust corruption case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. Anti-corruption court judge Nasir Javed Rana had completed the hearing on Wednesday, but had reserved the verdict for Monday.
‘Winter holidays are coming’
However, while presiding over the hearing on Monday, Rana said that the verdict would not be pronounced. “The verdict will not be pronounced today,” he said. Winter vacations are coming and proceedings are also going on in the High Court. The courts will officially be on winter vacation from December 24 to January 1. The verdict will be pronounced on January 6.
The case was registered in 2023
Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a case against Khan, 72, his wife Bushra Bibi, 50, and six others in December 2023, charging them with embezzling 190 million pounds (50 billion Pakistani rupees) to the national exchequer. Was accused of causing harm. Khan and Bibi have been prosecuted because all the others accused in the case, including a businessman, are out of the country. (Language)
