Indian fisherman dies in Pakistan’s Karachi jail (symbolic photo)
New Delhi: An Indian fisherman who has been closed has died even after completion of the sentence in Karachi Jail. Official sources gave information about this on Friday. He said that the fisherman has been identified as Babu. He died on Thursday. Sources said that it is the eighth Indian fisherman to lose life in Pakistan in the last two years.
180 Indian fishermen are waiting for release
A source said, “Babu was arrested by Pakistani officials in 2022. Despite his punishment being completed and his Indian nationality was confirmed, he was not released by Pakistani officials. “Sources said that 180 Indian fishermen, who have completed their sentences, are waiting for the release from the Pakistani jail. India has been continuously raising the issue of early release of prisoners before Pakistan.
Indian prisoners have died before
This is not the first incident when an Indian fisherman died in Pakistan’s captivity. Earlier in April 2024, Maharashtra fisherman Vinod Laxman Cole also died in Karachi Jail. Coal was arrested in October 2022 on charges of entering Pakistani Water Area. (Language)
