A Pakistan Anti-Terrorism Court on Friday sentenced 82 activists of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to four months in jail in connection with violent protests last year.
More than 1,500 PTI supporters were arrested after protests on 26 November 2024 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. These people demonstrated the government to pressurize the government to release party founder Imran Khan. Imran has been in jail since August 2023.
After the hearing, the court at Rawalpindi convicted 82 accused and sentenced them to four months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000 thousand.
